Alcohol free Glühwein
(Mulled wine)
We always enjoy Mulled wine at Christmas. On German Christmas markets, this hot beverage is just a tradition.
At the beginning here in Australia, we actually had Mulled wine on Christmas Eve.
Crazy,... aircon up,... mulled wine cooked,... hallelujah, haha.
We stopped that. And discovered Christmas in July. Perfect! Now we enjoy it every year in July.
We do a fire in our backyard oven and enjoy this great beverage sitting outside in the cold with our winter cloth.
When I took an alcohol break, I really missed that. I still do not drink alcohol.
But I was keen to find an alcohol free version.
When I found this one organic wild pomegranate juice, it gave me the idea.
I cooked the juice and added everything I usually would add to wine.
Wow, I was impressed,... this really was working. Full taste,... no alcohol.
Perfect!
I hope I can help you out this Christmas in July when you are looking for an alcohol free version.
I am sure you will like it :-)
To make 500ml - approx. 3 cups you need:
500ml organic wild pomegranate juice***
100ml filtered water
3/4 tbsp maple syrup
1 slice organic lemon - cut into quarters
1 slice organic orange - cut into quarters
1 small Anis Star
1/4 of a vanilla pot
1/2 cinnamon stick (if it is a small one use 1)
2 cloves
*** you find the juice at Coles. There are 2 different pomegranate options.
You need the wild version made from 100% fruit.
The other juice is just made from reconstituted juice.
I tried it and it tastes very different. I do not recommend that one.
I added a pic of the juice.
Directions:
1. Add all ingredients into a pot and heat with mid heat until it slightly simmers.
2. Turn the heat down to a very low simmer,... almost no simmer. Cook for 15 minutes.
3. Turn the heat down to a just "keep warm" level. And rest for 15 more minutes.
4. Should the mulled wine have cooled down to much again, warm it up again.
It should be enjoyed hot.
5. ENJOY - Merry Christmas :-)
Moroccan Watermelon Juice
This drink is just perfect for the hot weather season.
It is pretty hot outside.
So what better thing to have than a refreshing water melon drink.
And this one is SO easy to make.
Just 2 ingredients --- it can't get more easy.
I personally really love this drink.
All you need is
800g of fresh watermelon and 1tsp of rosewater.
You can get rosewater in every Asian or middle eastern grocery shop!
Just add good chilled watermelon into a food processor and process until smooth.
Add the rosewater, mix well - done! Serve with ice cubes and ENJOY :-)
Christmas --- just one day to go!
I usually drink Gluehwein (Mulled wine) at Christmas season.
But here in Australia, it is far better to have something cold to drink, haha.
At the beginning we actually kept drinking our Mulled wine.
Air-con on, Gluehwein on the stove, nice. But it really tastes different when you have it in hot weather conditions.
So we passed that on to Christmas in July. For Christmas I created this really delicious Christmas Nog. So good.
It is cold, it tastes like Christmas and it brings a smile on your face. Perfect!
Here are my ingredients to make approx. 4 glasses of Christmas-Nog:
400ml Coles brand unsweetened Almond milk
100ml Soy cooking cream (or the creamiest soy milk you can get)
1 tbsp vanilla essence
1 tbsp vanilla sugar
3 tbsp organic raw sugar
1/8 tsp Nutmeg
1/8 tsp Turmeric
1/2 tsp Dutch cinnamon
2-3 cl Whisky of your choice
3cl Old J. - Batch no 21/spiced with Vanilla &Persian lime
(if you can't get this liquors, just go with any other spiced rum or whisky)
for decoration:
1 star anis
1 cinnamon stick
and sprinkle with some cinnamon and nutmeg
Just mix all ingredients very well in your processor and chill.
Serve in a glass decorated with star anis and cinnamon stick.
Merry Christmas :-)

I just decided to give my body some extra power. Its my Pilates day today --- and I have not much time to cook lunch. So I have a second brekki, this smoothie and some mushrooms, silverbeet and spinach as light lunch.
The name of this smoothie has 4 components:
Blueberries - Banana - Spinat - Coconut cream
Short: Bluebaspico --- :-)
Blueberries are a great source for Vitamin K, Manganese, Vitamin C, Fiber and Copper!
I used for 1 glass of this smoothie:
1/2 cup of soy milk, 1/4 cup coconut milk, 1 handfull blueberries, 3 small pieces of banana, 3 big spinach leafes, 1 knife tip cinnamon, 2 tsp coconut sugar (rich in iron), 1/2 tsp vanilla essence and ice cubes
Just blend all ingredients in your blender until smooth --- ENJOY :-)

Recently I saw a drink on the page of my vegan grocery store (The Green Edge), what also developed to a small restaurant.
When I read "Peanut Butter Shake", I thought "hhmmmm - yum".
I never drank this shake before and I have no clue what they put into the shake -- except of peanut butter.
I recently won a great blender with one of my dishes (The Spinach & Feta parcels). And I don't know what just happened, but I thought at this shake.
I went to the kitchen and just added:
1 cup of soy milk, 1 generous tbsp of organic peanut butter, 1 tsp vanilla essence and 4 tbsp agave syrup + a pinch of salt. I blended it with some ice cubes --- and was amazed how good this drink is.
ENJOY :-)

Healthy Fruit Bomb
It's been a while since I uploaded a drink.
I just came home from the city. I had a bus ride what was not so nice because someone with a terrible cold sat in front of me and were sneezing all the time.
When I came home, I immediately had to make myself a real health bomb. And here it is:
4 big strawberries
half a banana
1/2 cup frozen blueberries
1 piece of fresh ginger
1 handful spinach leaves
Juice of 1 small lemon
3-4 tbsp malt syrup (or maple syrup)
1/2 tsp turmeric powder
1 generous splash almond milk or Coconut Quench
4 ice cubes to process with + 3 ice cubes to serve
This is very healthy, gives you lots of vitamins and minerals and best thing is ... is so delicious :-) ENJOY
